Why I built Kidibook
I'm Hugo, dad of Olivia, 4 years old.
We've always read stories together at night. And like every parent, I make some up too — but Olivia always asked for the same thing: to see herself in the story, like in her real books, with the pictures. And that's something no dad can draw at the edge of the bed.
So I started creating illustrated stories with an AI — she loved it. Then one evening at the dinner table, in the middle of a voice conversation, my daughter made a noise and the AI replied: “What's wrong Olivia, are you okay?”
My wife and I got chills. Without realizing it, we had handed a machine dozens of details about our daughter.
I didn't want to give up the magic — Olivia was too happy being the hero of her stories. So I built Kidibook: the same wonderful stories, with one absolute rule — nothing is ever stored. Photos are deleted, no data is kept or reused.
Today it's our bedtime ritual, and her favorite moment of the day. I hope it becomes yours too.
